Building House Parts, Doors
When you build a house, you obviously need a way to get in and out of it. Once you're inside, the door's security feature keeps out the weather, bears, and such. It was easier to open if it were on hinges, and to keep it from flapping all around, man created a latch.

A board and batten door was easy enough to construct of lumber, with three horizontal pieces holding the vertical pieces together. It was built without a frame at first, and sometimes a lazy carpenter only used two horizontal pieces..
A swinging door was an integral part of old saloons, for example, where folks came and went constantly. Later, in a cold climate somewhere, someone invented a revolving door.

The Dutch came up with the idea of a two-part door, so the busy housewife inside could keep tabs on her neighbors. It also kept the family cow out.
A lock made sure the neighbors couldn't get in, and it was then that the door knocker was born. This eventually led to the invention of the doorbell. The front door can also be decorative, to make sure that passers-by know the owner has taste and finesse
There are doors between rooms, patio doors, and the back door. Let's not forget pet doors.

A door can be covered or set in an arch. It can be glazed or paneled or have a screen insert.

Paneled doors can be made up of many panels or shapes, either symmetrical or not, as the designer deems fit.

Both of the doors at the left have five panels.

Like windows, doors come in many shapes. Here's an Art Nouveau door from one of  Jaddell's Rooms.

You can even fold doors up.

Google for door images and see all the ideas you can come up with.

Knock yourself out!
