This tip emerged when I was trying to build a
lot of exterior window shutter picture tubes in a variety of colors. I
wasn't satisfied with colorizing my original shutter for one thing, and I
wanted to be able to choose more than one style shutter.
Bonus
You can also do this with door styles. |
Download the PSP 7.04 shutter file
here. |
Download shutter textures
here. |
When you unZIP the styles file,
put the six BMP textures into your PSP Program Textures folder. (Mine is
located at C:\Program Files\Jasc Software Inc\Paint Shop Pro 7\Textures.) |
Open the unZIPped Shutter.PSP file and
duplicate it. (SHIFT+D) |
|
|
You already have the hinges behind the first
layer, so highlight the Shutter layer. |
Load the Shutter selection (the only one)
from the Alpha Channel. |
|
|
Flood fill the selection with your color of
choice. |
Effects> Texture Effects>Texture. Use one of the
shutter textures.
Size=100%
Smoothness=3
Depth=4
Ambiance=0
Shininess=0
Color=white
Angle=307
Intensity=43
Elevation=33 styles.
That's it! |

However, there's a left shutter and a right
shutter. Duplicate the left shutter and mirror both the Hinges layer and
the Shutter layer. The shadows will be different for each. |
Select the blank space on the side of the
first shutter on the Shutter layer. Invert (CTRL+I). Apply a drop
shadow. I use a new layer with settings of H and V=3, 50% Opacity, Blur=3,
color black. |

Merge Visible layers. Don't save it again
unless you want to put it into your house parts collection.
Create a new document, put the window and the shutters where you want them
and merge visible layers. Now you can put the window with shutters
wherever you like on the house. |
